I have been so busy these last few months working and being a mom, etc, that my writing has been pushed to the side. I’ve been working full time as an Elementary Art Teacher and it has been eye-opening, extremely difficult, and so rewarding! But as I’ve been working, it was like the writing part of me just didn’t have a place at the table. I have spent the better part of a year not writing, but feeding the artist side of me as an art teacher. I have reconnected to my artistic roots and it has fueled me in every way through writer’s burnout.
I will be finishing my job at the end of May and am so excited to announce–I am putting my writing and art first going forward!
After querying and working with a small publisher for a few years, I’ve finally decided to do what I want: to take complete creative control of my books–and that means–yes, I’ll be self-publishing! I am so, so excited to do things my way! I have so many ideas!
I am also very pleased to announce that my first self-published book will be released Oct 28, 2025–and it’ll be a cozy Christmas book! I can’t wait for you all to see the cover (that I spent 20 hours drawing/creating!). I have so many goodies in store for this book, including exclusive art, recipe pages, a beautiful map, and so much more!
So where am I on my self-publishing journey? I have already written my book and put it through critiques with my fantastic writing group, The Ravenquills. I am kinda obsessed with this one! I have to keep a lot about my Christmas book secret, but suffice it to say, you won't have seen a Christmas book quite like this one! I just got the first passes from my editor, so I am going through those changes now. It is looking so good!
I seriously can’t wait for you to meet my little human baker, Noelle, and the frustratingly handsome Elf King. This is NOT a Santa Claus retelling–it is its own kind of magic. I can’t say more, so for now–stay tuned!
